“ANAGENNISI” SPORTS AND CULTURAL CLUB

The “Anagennisi” (Rebirth / Renaissance) Sports and Cultural Club in Kato Lefkara was established in 1988 by the village’s youths, aiming at the entertainment and the exercise of the young and the tightening of bonds of the permanent inhabitants with the friends and emigrants of the village.

The young living at the village in that era could not support their families based on the income that they received and so they were compelled to leave abroad.

The next generation living in the village continues the projects with various events such as the “Friends and Emigrants of Kato Lefkara” Ball, which takes place on the first Saturday after the 15th of August. On the 1st of January a Bingo Night is organized and the Community Council shares out gifts to all the children. On Easter Sunday and Monday there are games with prizes. All the events are organized on a non-profit basis. Until 2001 there was also a soccer team but it was brought out of action due to a financial problem and the lack of young persons.
